Permanent Resident is a permanent, portable installation that was made and exists inside Elsewhere - The Living Museum in Greensboro, NC. The Permanent Resident is made from materials from the museum's collection. Constructed primarily from denim, it references the city of Greensboro's long history in denim production as well as the history of the building and its former owner. The piece is meant to exist inside the collection and invites the public, as well as museum staff and artists, to interact with it. Through photographs of the Permanent Resident in action during its life at the museum, the public and museum staff make it possible for it to report back to the artist. 2015
